The terroir is defined by a distinct Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters. The vineyards are significantly influenced by both the dry northwestern Mistral wind and the cool Marin breeze blowing in from the Mediterranean.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe soils in this area are composed primarily of large, rounded stones known as galets roulés, mixed with red clay and sand from the ancient course of the Rhône river. This composition ensures excellent drainage and heat retention. The broader Rhône Valley has a rich viticultural history dating back to Roman times. While the northern part of the region is known for its steep slopes, the warmer southern section, where Costières de Nîmes is located, is characterized by a long-standing tradition of biodynamic and organic winegrowing.
