Aalborg Christmas Akvavit De Danske Spritfabrikker 2004
The 2004 Aalborg Jule Akvavit is a special edition release from De Danske Spritfabrikker, a distinguished Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court. Produced in Copenhagen, Denmark, this vintage marks the 23rd edition of the annual Christmas akvavit tradition. The series originally began in 1982 as a successor to the popular 100th-anniversary akvavit released the year prior. While the inaugural 1982 release did not feature a year on the glass, all subsequent editions, including this 2004 version, proudly display an embossed vintage.
This particular release was crafted to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. Recognizing the shared cultural heritage between the national spirit and the beloved writer, the 2004 edition draws direct inspiration from his literary work. The design of the bottle pays homage to one of his most famous fairy tales, "The Ugly Duckling," uniting past and present in its visual expression.
Bottled at 47% alcohol by volume, the akvavit maintains the historical strength typical of Danish spirits from over a century ago. In historical terms, this specific alcohol content was known as "8 degrees Spendrup," named after a measurement scale invented by the traditional distiller Peter Mathias Spendrup.
