Bressandes Beaune 1er Cru 1999
This 1999 red wine comes from the Bressandes vineyard and holds the Appellation Beaune 1er Cru Contrôlée classification. The 1999 vintage is recognized as a top vintage characterized by great finesse and depth, achieving a score of 95 points. The wine originates from Beaune, located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. As the historic trading town for the entire Burgundy region in eastern France, Beaune is home to 42 Premier Cru Climats spread across limestone and clay soils on slopes at altitudes between 220 and 300 meters. The area is also widely known for hosting the annual Hospices de Beaune auction.
Burgundy's viticultural landscape was shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped the countless terroirs of the area, turning the concept of terroir into an art form with a finely meshed system of climats. Stretching from Chablis in the north to the Côte d'Or and Mâconnais in the south, the region's limestone soils are central to its production. This wine is made from Pinot Noir, an elegant blue grape that dominates the Beaune area. While Pinot Noir is also grown in regions like Champagne, Germany, Oregon, and California, it is the primary focus in Burgundy alongside Chardonnay.
Domaine Albert Morot, situated in Beaune, has a history dating back to 1820. For generations, the estate was managed by the Choppin de Janvry family, whose patient dedication to the terroir of the Côte de Beaune established the domain's reputation. The house is particularly strong in Beaune and Savigny-lès-Beaune, where they hold the monopoly of Clos de la Bataillère, a Premier Cru plot where the domain solely handles production. The estate's approach focuses on finesse and structure rather than expressive power, highlighting the elegant side of the Côte de Beaune. In 2015, the vineyard became organically certified, and in 2023, ownership transitioned to Guillaume and Sophie Poitrinal, with Pierre-Jean Villa taking over as winemaker to interpret the estate's two centuries of history. This specific wine was bottled directly at the estate, as indicated by the "Tirage du Domaine" designation.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
