Bordeaux 2000s - Tasting box
Bordeaux in the 2000s – three wines from a new decade
Experience Bordeaux from the beginning of the 2000s through three different wines and appellations.
This tasting case brings together the 2000, 2002, and 2004 vintages and shows a younger side of Bordeaux than our classic vintage cases from the 80s and 90s. The wines still have more than 20 years of development in bottle, while at the same time retaining more of their original fruit, structure, and freshness.
The case contains:
Château Latour-Laguens 2000 – Bordeaux Supérieur
The tasting begins with the 2000 vintage – an obvious start to the case both chronologically and stylistically.
Bordeaux Supérieur provides a classic picture of the region’s traditional red wine style with dark fruit, spices, and structure. After more than 25 years in bottle, the wine has had plenty of time to develop more mature nuances, without moving fully into very old vintage wine.
Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2002 – Pauillac
Next, we move to Pauillac on the left bank.
Pauillac is known for Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wines with structure, dark fruit, and classic notes of cedar, tobacco, and graphite. Grand-Puy Ducasse therefore provides a more concentrated and classic left-bank expression in the middle of the tasting.
Château Prieuré-Lichine 2004 – Margaux Grand Cru Classé
The tasting concludes in Margaux with Château Prieuré-Lichine.
Margaux is often associated with a more elegant and perfumed expression than Pauillac. Here, you therefore get a natural point of contrast to the preceding wine and the opportunity to compare two well-known appellations from the left bank.
Three vintages – three expressions of Bordeaux
What makes this case special is the combination of age and accessibility.
The wines are old enough to show clear bottle maturity, but young enough to still retain more fruit and structure than our oldest Bordeaux cases.
Start with Bordeaux Supérieur 2000, continue to Pauillac 2002, and finish in Margaux 2004 – and experience three different sides of Bordeaux from the same decade.
An ideal tasting case for the Bordeaux enthusiast, for a wine tasting with friends, or for those who want to begin exploring mature Bordeaux without going all the way back to the 70s and 80s.
Only a limited number of cases are available.
