Château Faubernet is a red wine produced by DUFIS Frères. The estate is located near the town of Cadillac in the elongated wine district of Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, situated on the right bank of the Garonne river. The château produces approximately 250,000 bottles annually, with the majority being red wine that is aged in their modern, well-equipped cellars.
The wine holds the Appellation Bordeaux Supérieur Contrôlée, a regional designation established in 1943 that covers the entire Bordeaux region. Situated along the Atlantic coast, Bordeaux has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains globally renowned, with its historic 1855 classification still highlighting the area's leading estates. The 1979 vintage achieved a score of 88 points and is described as charming and mature. Bordeaux Supérieur requires stricter production standards than the basic Bordeaux AOC, including lower yields, higher minimum alcohol levels, older vines, denser planting, and at least nine months of aging.
While the specific grape blend for this wine is not detailed, Bordeaux Supérieur red wines are primarily crafted from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, often supplemented by Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and occasionally Carmenère. Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
