Clou d'Orge Ladoix 1er Cru 1995
The Clou d'Orge Ladoix 1er Cru 1995 is a red wine produced by Mestre Père et Fils. Originating from the Clou d'Orge vineyard, this wine holds the Appellation Ladoix 1er Cru Contrôlée classification. It was matured and bottled directly by the producer.
Located in eastern France, the Bourgogne region was shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped the area's countless terroirs. With its finely meshed system of climats, the region's limestone soils yield highly sought-after wines. Within this historic region lies Ladoix, the northernmost village appellation in the Côte de Beaune, covering the municipality of Ladoix-Serrigny at the foot of the Montagne de Corton. The 1995 vintage from this area achieved a score of 87 points and is described as mature and classic with good structure.
The Ladoix area encompasses 11 Premier Cru Climats as well as parts of the Grands Crus Corton and Corton-Charlemagne. The vines are cultivated at altitudes between 230 and 325 meters on stony, iron-rich oolite soils at the top of the slopes and brownish limestone soils in the middle. Ladoix is recognized as one of the most underrated villages in the Côte de Beaune. This specific wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, an elegant blue grape that is the primary red variety in the area. While Pinot Noir is deeply rooted in Bourgogne, it is also typically grown in regions such as Champagne, Germany, Oregon, and California.
