Pauillac Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Latour 1977
Château Latour stands as one of the five original Premiers Crus in the historic 1855 classification, representing the highest tier of classified estates in Bordeaux. Located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation within the Haut-Médoc, the estate is a benchmark for Left Bank Bordeaux. The 1977 vintage of this Premier Grand Cru Classé was produced during a year characterized by rain in the region. As is customary for the estate's grand vin, it was bottled directly at the property.
The history of Château Latour includes a period of British ownership under Pearson and later Allied Lyons, before returning to French control in 1993 when François Pinault and Groupe Artémis acquired the estate. The property spans 78 to 80 hectares, with the 47-hectare core parcel known as L'Enclos situated immediately surrounding the château, serving as the origin for their principal wine. The estate has transitioned to organic and biodynamic viticulture, achieving Ecocert certification. In 2012, Château Latour made the notable decision to exit the traditional en primeur system, choosing instead to release their wines at a later stage.
Pauillac is situated on the Left Bank of the Gironde estuary, an area renowned for its gravel-rich soils. This terroir is traditionally dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which forms the foundation of the blends from this part of Bordeaux. The broader Bordeaux region, located near the Atlantic coast, has a rich history of wine exportation dating back to the Middle Ages. Pauillac itself is home to three of the five First Growth estates from the 1855 classification, cementing its status as one of the most prominent wine-producing areas in the world.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
