The 1982 Château Gontet-Robin is a red wine from the Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion appellation in Bordeaux. Produced by J.L. Robin, the wine was bottled directly at the château during a year that is widely regarded as legendary. Characterized as rich and balanced, the 1982 vintage achieved a score of 97 points, reflecting the exceptional conditions of the season in this historic wine-producing region.
Bordeaux, situated on the Atlantic coast, has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains the world's most famous wine region. Within its Libournais district lies Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, one of the four satellite AOCs located northeast of the renowned Saint-Émilion appellation. Granted AOC status in 1936, the area covers approximately 740 hectares of vineyards centered around the village of Puisseguin. The local climate benefits from Atlantic influences moderated by the Dordogne river, providing mild temperatures and suitable humidity. The vines are planted on higher slopes featuring well-draining soils composed primarily of limestone and clay, along with asteries limestone in certain parcels.
The Right Bank of Bordeaux is the traditional domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the production in Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion consists entirely of red wines. The local terroir provides excellent conditions for Merlot-based wines, which typically make up 70 to 85 percent of the blend. This primary grape is traditionally supplemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a smaller proportion of Malbec, resulting in classic wines from this quality-oriented satellite appellation.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
