Château La Croix d'Armens Saint Émilion Grand Cru 1998 is a French red wine produced by S.C.E.A. Chateau Armens, under the guidance of Alexandre de Malet Roquefort. This specific cuvée serves as the second wine of the estate, which is also known as Château d'Armens or Bonnet. The property is situated in the village of Saint-Pey-d'Armens, located six kilometers west of Castillon-la-Bataille in the southeastern corner of the Saint-Émilion area. The wine was bottled directly at the château and has an alcohol content of 12.5%.
Saint-Émilion is one of the most famous wine areas in the Bordeaux region, situated on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, east of the city of Bordeaux. Known for its medieval town and its own distinct classification system, the area features a diverse terroir ranging from limestone plateaus and clay to sand and gravel. Bordeaux itself has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains globally renowned for its historic estates. The 1998 vintage in this area is characterized as rich and ripe, achieving a score of 90 points.
The estate encompasses 25 hectares of vineyards, which are planted with a blend of 50% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Malbec. Merlot, a classic dark grape frequently grown in Bordeaux as well as in California, Washington, and Northern Italy, dominates the right bank of Bordeaux and forms the foundation of the estate's plantings. It is complemented by Cabernet Franc, another classic grape typical to Bordeaux, the Loire Valley, and California. The addition of Cabernet Sauvignon, widely recognized in regions like Tuscany and Washington, along with a small percentage of Malbec—a grape often found in Argentina and Cahors—completes the vineyard's composition.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
