Saint Estèphe Cru Bourgeois Château Laffitte Carcasset 1989
The 1989 Château Laffitte-Carcasset is a Cru Bourgeois red wine from the renowned Bordeaux region in France. This large and esteemed estate takes its name from Joseph Laffitte, who owned the property around the time of the French Revolution. Produced under the ownership of Vicomte de Padirac, the wine is bottled directly at the château. The 1989 vintage achieved a score of 96 points and is described as full-bodied and concentrated, a characteristic that aligns well with the powerful style of its origin.
Located by the Atlantic Ocean, Bordeaux is the world's most famous wine region and has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages. The legendary 1855 classification continues to rank the leading estates of the area. Within this region lies Saint-Estèphe, the northernmost of Médoc's famous communal appellations, situated just north of Pauillac on the left bank of the Gironde. The local soil often contains more clay and limestone than neighboring areas, providing the wines with extra firmness, depth, and tannin structure.
The estate cultivates 25 hectares of vineyards, planted with a composition of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most recognized blue grapes for structured red wines, traditionally dominating the gravel soils of the left bank, and is also widely grown in California, Washington, and Tuscany. Merlot is a classic blue grape that plays an important role in the blend, frequently found in Bordeaux as well as California, Washington, and Northern Italy. Together, they form the foundation of the elegant blend wines of great finesse that the region is known for.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
